Tooth Extractions
Sometimes, a tooth that’s been damaged by extensive decay cannot be salvaged. Teeth can also be irreparably threated by gum disease. There are actually several reasons you might need to visit our office for a tooth extraction. They include:
- Extensive tooth decay
- Gum disease
- Tooth impaction
- Overcrowding
- Orthodontic treatment
- Abscess
- Infection
- Broken teeth
Whatever the reason for your tooth extraction, the dentists at Clark Family Dental can perform your procedure with as much compassion and gentle care as possible.
We might also perform a tooth extraction to allow for placement of replacement dental prosthetics. If you’re already missing several teeth, it might make sense to extract others to make your tooth replacement possible.
Because complications can arise after a tooth extraction, it’s recommended that you thoroughly follow our post-operative instructions. We want to help you avoid possible infection, swelling, and dry socket. Dry socket occurs when the blood clot that is supposed to form in the pit where the tooth was extracted doesn’t or gets removed. That’s why we recommend not sucking on straws, smoking cigarettes, or rinsing your mouth with water for at least 24 hours after your tooth extraction.
Contact our office for an appointment to discuss tooth replacement or any other dental care questions you might have. We serve patients from surrounding communities as well, providing excellent dental care for optimal oral health.
